Crococun Crocodile Park at Puerto Morelos
Crococun it is a great place to see the local wildlife. Venture into the natural tropical forest and confront the prehistoric crocodiles, the rulers of this sacred land and witness their unpredictable personalities. The journey continues with a welcome from the friendly monkeys, a view of the diversity of snakes and the other exciting surprises that await.
Get a guide at the entrance (tip him at the end) and you can hold crocodiles, monkeys, boas, baby deer, and parrots. Crococun began in 1985 as a commercial breeding farm intending to sell crocodile skins, but now Crocodile is a Park & Regional Zoo in the Riviera Maya. This is a great place to take children and perfectly safe since most of the animals are in large pens and exhibits. Everything is outside in the lush jungle. The tour consists of a walk down a winding jungle path as your guide talks about the animals and answers your questions. Every so often he stops to pick one up to show you something. Be sure to pet the hairless Mayan dog. It feels sort of like a pig. Maya used to eat them,an is a delicious dish. Cover yourself with bug repellent before getting out of the car. At Crococun, there is a snack bar and souvenir stand for mementos (no crocodile luggage). So if your passing by and you have an hour, stop, and enjoy this adventure.

Considered one of the largest and most spectacular in the world, Xcaret´s Butterfly Pavilion invites you to admire a wide variety of native butterflies flying free. A free flight area of 3,500 m2 in size and 15 meters in height with multi-level gardens, a cascade, and the tropical jungle, are the scenery you will find in this magical home of 20 reproduction area. Xcaret's Mayan Village The Mayan Village offers an opportunity to travel back in time. Although the center of ancient cities were lined with palaces and temples, the common people lived in the outskirts in houses built of wood and chord (metal was not yet discovered) whose elliptical shape kept their interior fresh all year round. Their roofs (palapa) were thatched with palm fronds, which must be cut by the light of the full moon so the sap reaches the tip of the frond making the roof waterproof for up to 20-25 years. Beside each house, the Mayans planted vegetables and aromatic herbs in raised plots to protect them from small herbivorous creatures.
Xcaret's Aquarium In XCARET's aquarium, you'll be able to appreciate even the smallest details of beautiful coral reefs, one of the planet's richest ecosystems. Every effort has been made to reproduce the natural habitat of reefs and the atmosphere of these delicate ecological areas. Xcaret's Orchid Farm Located in the heart of the Botanical Garden, the orchid farm not only allows you to admire famously beautiful orchids, but also learn about their cultivation process. In our laboratory, you can see the various steps of orchid development from a seed developed in vitro, to just before it is transplanted to the greenhouse. Currently, we have succeeded in growing 89 of the 105 orchid species indigenous to the region.
Xcaret Wild Bird Aviary The Wild Bird Breeding Aviary is located behind the museum and displays a great number of birds mostly from the southeastern region of Mexico, many of which are in danger of extinction. Xcaret is home to more than 44 species, among the visitor favorites are macaws, toucans and flamingos.
