The Blue Parrot Club (Beachfront)
This is the most popular club in Playa. Their location at the foot of chic 12th street, in the center of Playa del Carmen under a huge palapa, is perfect. The blue Parrot is a combination restaurant, bar, and nightclub that attracts locals and an international clientele of island visitors. Early in the day you can walk up from the beach to swing at the bar with a cool drink in hand. 2 dancing areas with ethnic music in one and club music in the other.

Capitan Tutix (beach front)
Slick, American style club, a very international, mostly college aged scene. We stepped in our first night and listened to some hypnotic South American drumming. Combined with a steady ocean breeze, I could have gone into a trance I was so relaxed and engaged by the performers, who both drummed and danced. Other nights, however, were dominated by loud, cheesy American music (Anyone for "YMCA" or the Macarena?) It’s a beach club during the day, with dinner served outside in the sand. There is the ubiquitous dancing on the bar for those drunk enough. The bar resembles a pirate ship complete with sails and a bartender in eye patch and tight leather cod piece. Pick your night, it can be good and can be cheesy, but over all fun and popular with an international set.

Mambo cafe.
This is one discoteque with decoration and Caribbean atmosphere, best Latin music and the successes of the moment in tropical and pop music in Spanish. The innovation of this place is the existing fusion between live groups and the DJ host. Along  with the best stuff in audio technology  and illumination. Its main attractives is to have the best international groups interpreting rhythms like salsa, merengue and cumbia among others.
